Arthur LeFebvre
Arthur Reed LeFebvre was born Nov. 12, 1938, in Doylestown, Pa., to Arthur F. R. LeFebvre and Reba Pyatt LeFebvre. He was raised in Trenton, N.J., and graduated from Ewing High School.
Reed served active duty twice in the Army National Guard. Reed worked for Western Union in New Jersey and Washington, D.C., where he met the love of his life, Diane Koistinen. They transferred to Florida, where they happily raised their family of four.
In 1971, Reed and his dad invested in the golf course business, leading to his career as a golf course superintendent. During this time he served as president of the Florida Golf Course Superintendent Association for two years.
Reed loved to help and mentor people, such as coaching and umpiring both Little League baseball and softball when his children were playing, as well as several years after.
After retirement Reed and Diane moved to Custer, S.D., where he enjoyed a cowboy’s life of raising cattle and horses on their ranch. Never one to idle, Reed became a paramedic, volunteering with Custer Ambulance Services for 16 years, and serving on the board of the Custer Hospital.
He enjoyed building, including a hunting cabin in Florida, and the interior of their South Dakota log home. He liked cars, tractors and most other devices that had motors within them!
In 2014 Reed and Diane moved permanently to The Villages, Fla., where he enjoyed golf, pickleball and especially softball. With the urging of his daughter, he took up singing and made many memories and friends at karaoke. He was additionally a member of American Legion Post 347.
Reed was most proud of and devoted to his family, and he served as a great role model for them. He was a lifelong Christian and an elder in the Presbyterian Church.
Reed passed away at Cornerstone Hospice Sept. 4, 2025, after a brief illness. He was 86.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Diane; his children, Susan LeFebvre, Lori (Cameron) Gibbs, Douglas (Cindy) LeFebvre, and Bradley (Shannon Chiles) LeFebvre; his grandchildren, Brandon, Alexander, Connor and Haldan Gibbs; Gunner, Wyatt and Rowdy LeFebvre; and Jackson and Jordyn LeFebvre; his great-grandchildren, Cameron R. Gibbs and Christian Gibbs; and his sisters, Yvonne Monteferrante, Renee Duane and Elaine Silvia.
