Keystone voters came out in droves for the redo election for town board trustee.
The new election featured the same candidates, incumbent Matt Fullilove and challenger David Cofoid.
Fullilove won the original election by a mere one vote but because incorrect ballots were printed and used town officials petitioned a judge to allow a redo election. The town even opted for a new election board for the April 30 contest.
This time 139 people cast votes, nearly 40 more than at the original election.
It was called “record turnout.”
And this time, Cofoid was declared the winner with 83 votes. Fullilove received 56 votes.
Cofoid said that he wanted to thank everybody who voted for him.
“I'm looking forward to working with the four other trustees, the public works department and the staff at town hall,” he said.
Cofoid added he is excited be the new trustee, anticipating a “great three years and many successes as well as open communication with both the residents and the businesses.”
The election will be canvassed immediately with Cofoid and Lynette Tyon, who ran unopposed, getting sworn in as new trustees May 1.
