Daniel Sagdalen

Daniel “Dan” Jack Sagdalen was born Sept. 1, 1959, a son of Jack and Betty Jo Sagdalen in Rapid City, S.D. He was raised in the Keystone area and graduated from Hill City (S.D.) High School in 1977. He began working with his father in his company Hills Construction LLC.  He later went on to own the company and continued working until his passing.

From a young age he had a love for motorcycles and Mustangs, which he owned several of in his lifetime. He loved weekends at the lake surrounded by family and friends and was always sporting a party shirt. He enjoyed all the time with his grandkids, especially getting to share his love of construction equipment with his grandson.

Daniel, of Keystone, S.D., passed away July 6, 2023, after a nearly two-year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 63.

He is survived by his daughter, Codee (Korey) Sagdalen of Rapid City; son, Ryan Sagdalen of Rapid City; grandchildren, Kolt and Kinsley; parents, Jack and Betty Jo Sagdalen of Rapid City; sister, Marian (Rod) Johnson of Hill City; and incredible friends Lisa Sagdalen, Rick Metz and Charles Bradley.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Pancreatic Cancer Society and his grandchildren’s education, who were his pride and joy.

Celebration of Life Services will be Wednesday, July 12, at 2 p.m. at the Keystone Community Center with Pastor Brent Woodard officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery in Keystone.
