Jessica Jacobs had already scheduled country music artist Ja’net Eastman to perform at the Mangy Moose Saloon when she heard they were looking for fundraiser ideas for the Hill City Ambulance Service. Inspiration struck, and Jacobs decided to transform her event into a night to raise support for the ambulance service.
“They are vital to our area,” Jacobs said. “The need for first responders is pretty high out here. So anything I can do to help, I want to.”
The fundraiser will be on July 27 with live music from 7-11 p.m. This will be featuring Ja’net Eastman, a recorded country music artist from the Northern Hills. She will be performing original songs as well as cover songs throughout the evening.
At the door there will be a five dollar cover charge which will all go toward the fundraiser. This, Jacobs said, is “a way to guarantee that people coming in are making a contribution to the ambulance.” Donation jars will also be available throughout the location for people to freely give.
Meanwhile, the Mangy Moose Saloon will have food specials from 5 p.m. on where $2 of every purchase will go toward the fundraiser. There will be cocktail specials throughout the day as well. For this special, one dollar per drink will be donated to the fundraiser.
However, the highlight of the fundraiser will be a 50/50 lottery drawing. Jacobs applied for and received a permit to host the lottery that evening. For this drawing, people can purchase tickets, and all the money raised will go into a pot. At 10:30 p.m. a ticket will be drawn, and the winner will receive 50 percent of the proceeds. The other half will go toward the ambulance fundraiser.
“It’s an informal fundraiser for a good cause,” said Jacobs. “I’m going to try my luck at this and see what we can do for them.”
Jacobs is most excited about the music and seeing how much money they can raise. However, the final amount will likely not be known until July 28. More details and information about the artists will be posted on the Mangy Moose Saloon Facebook page as the date draws closer.
