Jerry Cobb
Jerry Dennis Cobb was born March 5, 1939, in Hansen County, S.D. He was the youngest of eight children born to Andrew and Irene Heath Cobb.
Jerry passed away Oct. 23, 2025, in Custer, S.D., at the age of 86.
Jerry grew up on farms in the Alexandria and Mitchell, S.D. area. He rode horseback to country schools through eighth grade and graduated from Mitchell High School.
He married Bonnie Wilcox April 6, 1957, in Mitchell. They were blessed with a son, Timothy and a daughter, Jodi. Jerry and Bonnie resided in Minnesota for over 40 years.
Jerry was a manufacturer’s representative for American Chicle Company for 18 years in Minneapolis, Minn., and earned many top sales awards. He then became self-employed buying and selling feeder cattle and horses. He truly enjoyed working with livestock and was a life-long knowledgeable horseman.
Jerry and Bonnie retired to Custer in 2002. They enjoyed riding their horses and playing golf. Jerry was extremely proud of being of Irish descent and his favorite holiday was St. Patrick’s Day, but was most proud of his large immediate family and would brag about them to anyone that would listen. He loved having the grandchildren and great grandchildren come to visit.
Jerry was a former member of Caballeros Del Norte in Minnesota, American Quarter Horse Assn., Rocky Knolls Golf Course, Custer and current member of Custer Community Church.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bonnie; his son, Tim (Donna) of Weiser, Idaho; his daughter, Jodi (Steve) of Delano, Minn.; and by eight grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer.
