Les Animaux artists sought

Artists are sought for the Les Animaux Art Show This animal-themed charity show hosted by Art Expressions Gallery to support Battle Mountain Humane Society (BMHS). People’s Choice balloting will be cash donations to BMHS. However, artists may donate a piece to be sold during the show with all proceeds going to BMHS. Half of each entry fee will be donated to BMHS, as well.

Artists are invited to submit works in any medium. They must be the original work of the artist and represent the animal theme.

The framed size cannot exceed 16x20 inches and must have a wall hanger or be self-supporting on a table or the floor. This is no jury selection.

There are two youth divisions: age 12 years and younger and 13-18.

Art Expressions Gallery reserves the right to refuse any submission that does not meet the rules or is inappropriate and is not responsible for loss of or damage to the artwork.

An entry fee is required. The fee is due when the artwork is submitted. Art may be listed as for sale or not for sale. Standard gallery commission rates will apply to any sale. Those who donate art will have their piece sold at the show and all proceeds go to charity.

Art pieces should be presented at Art Expressions Gallery by Aug. 11, between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Submissions may be mailed or shipped to Art Expressions Gallery, 36 S 6th St, Custer, SD 57730.

Pieces can be removed after the closing reception Sept. 19 or through Sept. 25 during business hours.

Ribbons will be awarded to the People’s Choice, People’s Choice Teen, People’s Choice Youth and BMHS Choice art pieces at the closing reception Sept. 19. During the display, gallery visitors vote for the three People's Choice awards by donating to BMHS. The BMHS Choice award is selected by BMHS staff.

There will also be a poster contest for the show  and any artist 18 or under may submit a design for a Les Animaux poster. This poster will be sold during the run of the art show. There is a cash prize of at least $50 for the winning entry and the artist will receive a commission of $2 on each poster sold.

Poster size is 11x17.  Art can be presented as a high-resolution electronic file (jpg or pdf) or it will be photographed and rendered to an electronic image. The  poster will be offered for sale as a 11x17 Giclee’ print.

Deadline for entries is 5 p.m. Aug. 7.
