Let’s go ’Cats!
Custer High School Homecoming is next week, and there is a full line-up of activities for students and community members to enjoy all week long. One important change to note this year is that the Homecoming parade and pep rally will be on Thursday rather than Friday.
On Monday will be the Homecoming coronation, where it will be revealed who students have chosen to reign as homecoming king and queen over the week.
The freshmen members of the homecoming court are Sunshine Surratt and Jameson Wiles. Sophomore members are Genevieve Poper, Jackson Trant and Lincoln Golder. Junior royalty is Keira Thorp and Brady Virtue.
Senior members of the court, and vying for the title of homecoming queen are Brook Bennett, Kerany Cuevas, Jordyn Larsen, Kylee Pulscher, Jordyn Uphoff and Shauna Zacher. For homecoming king, students will choose from seniors Connor Blume, Ender Gosser, Ayden Petz, Kyle Virtue, Tray Weiss and Jackson Wiles.
On Thursday will be most of the homecoming fun. The lip sync competition starts at 9 a.m. with each class battling for best lip sync performance. Then, the senior games will kick off at 10:30 a.m. Following lunch will be the pep rally at 12:30 p.m., and from there students will be released and bussed for the parade line-up.
The parade will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m. The parade route will start heading east on Harney Street from Sixth to Eight Street, where it will turn south to eventually go west on Mount Rushmore Road until ending at Second Street.
Later that evening, the Wildcat volleyball team will face off with Spearfish, with the varsity match starting at 7 p.m.
The centerpiece of the festivities, the homecoming football game, will be Friday at 6 p.m. as the Wildcats play the Lead-Deadwood Golddiggers.
