Prevailer wins awards

The Hill City Prevailer News was honored with three awards at the South Dakota Newspaper Association’s (SDNA) Better Newspaper Contest, which was a part of the SDNA’s annual convention last weekend in Mitchell.
The Prevailer News placed second in the General Excellence category for weekly newspapers under 700 in circulation.
“Each edition is jam-packed with news,” the judges said. “Photos are plentiful.”
Prevailer-News reporter Leslie Silverman received second place in the Best Local Column category, for her “Random Musings” column.
“Insightful, important questions about the power of wealth and how the ultra-wealthy wield that power,” the judge wrote. “Urbanites that go here and there and have overnight to recharge their electric cars see no problem with forcing the rest of us to do the same. A farmer can’t be waiting for his pickup to be recharged in the middle of the night while all hell is breaking loose and he needs to get going. Very good piece.”
Finally, the Prevailer’s 2021 Progress Edition placed first in the Best Special Section category.
“Progress sections are always a ton of work and this section has plenty of local stories and advertising - all are well done,” the judges wrote.
