Reflecting on the year that was

“I will see you next year” is one of my favorite dad jokes! As I type that, I obviously make myself chuckle; but more importantly I take a moment to reflect on a truly great year.
We were once again recognized as being amongst the top schools in South Dakota. Our school board achieved gold level status again. We had great successes in our athletic and fine arts. Our kids learned at a high level, our teachers were rock stars and our parents were extremely supportive!
At the end of the day we had a “normal” 2021. We were in school five days a week and kept the focus on our kids. We balanced COVID-19 against the academic, social, emotional and mental health needs of our kids. I am proud of the solidarity that we showed as a school and community.
I don’t know what 2022 will hold or what events will transpire. Yet, it gives me great peace to know that we will be navigating 2022 together. I am so proud of this school and community and it truly is a blessing to serve as your superintendent. Thank you for always being on the same team with the same goal: the best education for our kids!
