Select-A-Gift still seeking donations
With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas drawing ever closer the Select-A-Gift Committee is again asking the community of Custer to contribute toward a happier Christmas for the families in Custer County who may not otherwise receive Christmas gifts.
To help the committee reach the challenge of the Select-A-Gift committee to raise at least $20,000 this year it is extending its time for accepting donations. There are already more families signed up this year than a year ago at this time and this is why the committee seeks more help.
Find a tree from the list below before Dec. 17 (the sooner the better for us to purchase gifts) and place your cash or check made out to Select-A-Gift in one of the envelopes provided, then drop in the secure red lock boxes at the following locations: Custer Area Chamber of Commerce (M-F 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.), Highmark Federal Credit Union, South Dakota Outdoor Shop, Dacotah Bank and The Custer Beacon. The following churches will have drop boxes available before and after services: Custer Lutheran Fellowship, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Custer Community Church and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Or you can mail your check made out Select a Gift to Box 366, Custer SD 57730. Again, this year there is a QR code on our posters around town or on our Select-A-Gift Facebook page for Venmo donations.
“We are grateful for all of the support from the Custer community over the years,” said committee member Juli Ames-Curtis. “Have a lovely holiday season.”
If you are a Custer County resident or know of someone or a family who could use some help this Christmas call Donna at 605-440-0518 or inquire at The Storehouse to find out if you qualify for this program.
