As autumn days get shorter and the weather gets colder, one’s thoughts turn to home baking. Making bread, pies and other baked desserts not only warms up the house, but fills it with sweet smells that have the ability to take one back to sweet days of childhood.
One such recipe I have made many times over the years is truly an old fashioned dessert made with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. It’s simple to prepare and truly fits the description of a fall and winter comfort food. It even has an interesting origin story.
