Fall in love with fall

I keep saying what an amazing fall this has been. And then I need to check myself, because it's barely started! I think for some people fall begins when kids go back to school. For others it’s when pigskin makes its way back to the field. For others it’s when nights are cool and days get shorter .But scientifically it was Sept 22. this year.
I have two beautiful trees outside my home that are showing me their true colors. One is a mustard yellow with a faded lime green. The other is an orange yellow. Both take my breath away.

Actress/comedian Ann B. Davis made the character of America’s most loved housekeeper come to life every week in living rooms and TV rooms across the nation for five seasons of “The Brady Bunch,” from 1969-74.  I was a little tyke those days, but I remember thinking, “Some day, I want to be like Alice.” That’s kind of an odd desire since most people wanted to be like any of the Brady Bunch kids or even the picture-perfect parents. However, Alice was the glue that made the household actually hold together.

Land of the free. That’s what I’ve been told all my life. Certainly there are times when I’ve doubted that. When I learned there was a time in our nation’s history known as Prohibition I doubted that concept of freedom. But I didn’t live through that time, so had little attachment to the concept.

I just met this really super cool chick this last week. She is smart, adventurous and down to earth. But there is one major flaw I can’t get past. It’s been bumming me to no end. 
She is a seasonal ski patroller. She used to be a civil engineer, but 10 years ago she quit to work in the ski industry. The thing I can’t get past is what she does in the “off season.” She travels, sees the country and hikes long trails. And she does so on our dime.

What role does stress play in our health in America and, in particular, as it relates to COVID-19? Does being in a constant state of anxiety about COVID-19 related effects help or hinder us when we talk about immune resistance? What role does isolation play in our anxiety and stress over COVID-19 and are we giving this disease our last, great strength as human beings?

Some want special vaccine session

“Rep. Goodwin, please call for a special session to discuss COVID-19 vaccine mandates.”
All of us in the Legislature, 70 in the House and 35 in the Senate, are receiving many, many of these types of emails.  
We are citizen legislators, meaning we only meet for 40 days or less starting the second Tuesday in January. The next legislative session is Jan. 11 through March 10. We will have a 38-day session.

A busy summer filled with events

The last two months have just flown by and I haven’t taken the time to update. Sorry.
July was busy starting with Peggy’s Place when Lawerence Jones from “Fox and Friends” came to Keystone.   I was asked to speak at the July 4 ARISE USA Tour that was also held in Keystone at the city park.  That was an awesome patriotic event! Made a lot of new friends who love our special place here in the Black Hills.

Our attorney general’s trial begins very soon. If you’re not aware of what he is on trial for, on Sept. 12, 2020, Jason Ravnsborg drove his 2011 Ford Taurus westbound on U.S. Hwy. 14 when he struck Joe Boever. The accident happened at 10:30 p.m.
