Sharyl Gae Huntington was born in Billings, Mont.,  to Robert Bruce Stark and Billie June Stark June 28, 1942.  The family moved to California when she was 3 years old, and she met her best friend, Donna Scheer, at 7. At the age of 8 she chose the life of the Lord in the Catholic faith.

William Clark

William James “Bill” Clark was born in New Jersey to Joseph and Sarah Clark. He received his education at a number of schools throughout childhood including when his family moved to Canada, and then Bill moved to Florida. 
As the story is told, when in Canada, he and his horse would travel nine miles one way to and from school, but only if the temperature was above minus 30-degrees.  He acquired his high school diploma in Florida later in life while attending night school.  Bill attended Trinity College in Florida as well as voice training.

Kimberly Jones

Kimberly Anne (Sedlacek) Jones was born in Parkston, S.D., Aug. 22, 1968, to Richard and Karen (Hunhoff) Sedlacek.  Kimberly joined one brother, Daniel, and her two sisters Christy and Cindy were born soon after.  

Darryl Reindl

Darryl Lee Reindl was born Jan. 18, 1950, in Wessington Springs, S.D., to LeRoy and Ellen (Meis) Reindl. The family moved to the Black Hills of South Dakota in 1958 to build a ranching operation. He graduated from Custer High School in 1968.

Janice Elaine Tuthill, 63, of Custer, S.D., died Feb. 15, 2020, at her residence in Custer.

Stephen Kruse

Stephen Kruse, 62, of Sioux Falls, S.D., died Jan. 31, 2020,  at Sanford Foundation Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls. Private family services will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at Hill City Cemetery in Hill City, S.D.

Mark Morrissey

Mark David Morrissey was born Sept. 6, 1955, in Evanston, Ill., to William H., Morrisey and Anita Margaret Morrissey.
After his high school years in New Jersey, Mark lived in California and eventually settled in Morrill, Neb., where he worked as an over-the-road truck driver and electrical lineman. In 1999, Mark married his life partner, Susan, and together they established their restaurant, “Our Place,” in Custer, S.D. After Susan’s passing nine years later, Mark continued to operate the café and kept her dream alive until his retirement in May 2019.

Daniel Sandven

Daniel Alexander “Dan” Sandven was born May 6, 1934, in DeSmet, S.D., to Daniel D. and Gretchen (Casberg) Sandven of Carthage, S.D.
He was baptized  May 6, 1934, at West Bethany Lutheran near DeSmet. Daniel attended a country school near Letcher, S.D., and graduated high school at Carthage in 1952.  He enlisted in the United States Army from 1952-54.

Derelle Wynia

Derelle Mae Wynia was born May 10, 1934, in Custer, S.D., to Guy and Lillian (Sutliff) Hendrickson.   
Derelle attended Four Mile country school and Custer High School. She married Norman (Red) Wynia in 1952 and the couple had five children. After Red’s death she married Vernon Seger in 1990. She is fondly remembered by many as their school bus driver, having enjoyed this occupation for over 17 years.

Richard James Morris

Richard James Morris, 81, died peacefully Jan. 15, 2020, at Good Samaritan St. Martin’s Village in Rapid City, S.D.

Morris was born Jan. 1, 1939, in Rapid City to Ralph and Margaret (Boodleman) Morris. He graduated from Hill City (S.D.) High School in 1956. Morris’s family owned and operated Wheel Inn Resort and Sheridan Lake Marina where he worked many summers. Morris then went on to attend college, play in a band and learn his trade as an ironworker.
