Even weeks after its official season has closed, the Custer High School competitive cheer team continues to make headlines and win awards. The team’s latest triumph came in taking first place in the Lakota Nation Invitational (LNI) cheer and dance competition held in Rapid City last week.
“They really killed it!” said coach Sheri Deatherage of her team’s performance of the routine.
Deatherage said the energy from the 16 other teams in the contest was “amazing and really encouraged our girls to do their very best.”
