The 1880 Train is about to take off thanks to a new children’s book by Sean Covel.
Covel, famous for his film credits that include the cult classic “Napoleon Dynamite,” is releasing a graphic novel for children entitled “Marlon McDoogle’s Magical Night,” inspired by Meg Warder, president of the Hill City 1880 Train.
With the official start to winter almost here, it’s time to start thinking about what can be done to stay healthy this flu season.
The Hill City Prevailer News sat down with Dr. Terry Graber, family practice physician in the Hill City Regional Health Medical Clinic to learn more about what can be done to remain healthy.
When doctors discuss the flu, they are talking about influenza, Graber said.
The Hill City Common Council met Nov. 25 to discuss approving the tax increment finance (TIF) district to allow for affordable housing to be constructed in Hill City.
Before that, though, the council voted on approving the wages for city administrator Brett McMacken and planning and zoning commission member Connie Wolters.
The vote came after alderman John Johnson moved these items from the consent calendar to have them voted on as separate items.
Keystone is ready to sign off on the sewer project, it was revealed at the most recent Keystone Town Board meeting.
Jerry Przybylski, public works superintendent said, “I think we can go ahead and sign that sheet. The only thing we got left on there is we’re calibrating the meters.”
The board voted unanimously to have board president Rick Brandfas sign the letter of completion.

Each year, the Black Hills National Forest sells approximately 3,000 Christmas tree permits, said Scott Jacobson, public affairs officer for the Black Hills National Forest.

Hawthorne’s journey begins like many people who have moved to the Black Hills. Hawthorne is originally from California but — along side her husband and later her kids — she has been visiting the Hills since the early 1990s.

Hill City has taken a step toward attaining affordable housing.
At the Hill City Planning and Zoning Commission meeting Tuesday, Nov. 19, the commission unanimously recommended approval to the Hill City Common Council of a tax increment financing (TIF) zone in the city and approved the boundaries of the TIF.
About a dozen people came to the Keystone Library recently to discuss the South Dakota One Book “Neither Wolf nor Dog.”
